Shaping our system. Dear 4-H Educators - The six core themes of 4-H Professional Research Knowledge and Competencies (PRKC) will continue to be the focus of much of what we do in this next program year related to professional development. I encourage you to find some time to check out the national web site, download the full PRKC document and that you have continue to work on your professional development plan based on your self-assessment. All the documents can be found on the National 4-H Headquarters link. We will do our best to incorporate the six core themes into the professioanal development opportunities sent your way. You will notice that the new staff website is organized by themes. Note, too, that there is a search in the top right corner that will help in case you cannot find the resources that you are looking for.

Connecting to Cornell. Central to our organization is our connection to Cornell University. In these times where funding is tight, and impact is often questioned it is crucial that we know who we are and what makes us unique. Connecting to Cornell certainly is more than taking trips to the university, it is extending the resources and connecting to partners at our land grant. Our connection to the University lends credibility to our organization and our system aids the University in it's outreach mission. As always, be in touch with the State 4-H Office if we can be of help to you.
Regards, Barb Schirmer State 4-H Program Leader
