Q & A
Question:
Are there going to be can wraps that we can print off to wrap around our own containers? The cost of cans is a major concern. The cost will impact how many locations will be getting cans.
Answer: There are a couple of ways to recoup your can costs....
1. You may not realize that the cans will be "reusable" ie: they'll have a removable plastic lid, so once they fill up you can use them again.
2. You may deduct the cost of your cans off the top of what you collect. (We haven't made that entirely clear on the website, so thank you for asking the question). The 50:50 expected income split is for gross income because the foundation is investing in each county by providing (4) collection devices for your use. To date the foundation has invested ~$5000 for campaign development and purchase of the big funnel.
3. Any can wraps that are downloadable must only be used on approved containers. The campaign is intended to provide a professional and consistent image across the entire state which is why containers are being provided. Your county will receive (4) for no charge. $5/container is not a big cost. Some counties are choosing to obtain local sponsors to help with the up front purchase. Orange county, for example, plans to order 1 for every club plus a few more. You might also be able to "pass the hat" among leaders to pay for additional pre-orders.
Question: When will cans be available to counties?
Answer: Our goal is to hand them out to counties at the Career Explorations event. We will be kicking off the campaign at the opening presentation of the event, sending folks home excited to get started.
